wow ! 67 degrees here at 7 AM

Gotta love it. I got up and opened a few windows and opened the porch for the kids. I then stripped the bed and washed and hung sheets , bedspread and my quilt. I knew it wouldn't last but a few hours of this wonderful temp would be great. I then went into town and visited with my friend Leeanne and the ladies of The Coffee Cabinet. To my surprise Jan had closed The Daily Bread for the Labor Day weekend and the fact that she was going to be catering a wedding reception. Leeanne had been very busy with coffee so it was good to see that.
Most people that know me know I'm not really a kid person....that is small kids. Why I don't know I think it's the NO Patience part. So it amazes me to find they like me. I smiled at this little guy maybe 3 yrs old and the next thing over he comes and wants to sit with me while his Mom and Grandmother are busy getting coffee and not paying a bit of attention to the little guy. So what the heck the little guy hands me his toy car hey he's an Earnhart fan, the kid can't be all bad. So he sits with me for the 5 minutes while his "keepers" get their coffee then I help him down so he doesn't fall off the high chairs that are in the sitting area of the Coffee Cabinet. Then Grandma smiles and tells me this little guy is the first boy in five generations. I don't say anything as I look at her and her daughter about the females not having the say in this matter. Both are bookends by the way and DH knows what I mean about this. I just smile and say I bet he's going to be quite spoiled. He was a good little guy...like I said he was a Jr. fan., so I didn't mind the company.

While I was there I figured I'd use my cell phone and call my own kid. To my surprise Dawn answers his cell so she and I chat a bit and she fills me in on what's going on in St. Mary's, GA. They didn't have the closing on their house yesterday as planned as all the papers weren't in from the VA so now they will do conventional and have the closing this coming Wed. David is waiting on his Visa and passport oks and he is to leave on Thursday for Brazil. Phew cutting things close here. But Dawn has power of attorney so even if there is another hitch all will be well.

David is thrilled as he's had his first months pay from Noble Drilling. He's on standby so even though he has not yet reported to the job he has gone through training of two weeks and he gets paid for the month. Not a bad life these kids are going to have I wish I was as lucky to only work 6 mo out of the year and get paid for 12 months and at 6 figures. ARGH.. The only thing I can take credit for here are his work ethics. He has done the rest by himself. With Dawn's help, but he's smarter than his Mom ever was. I don't give his Dad any credit, sorry...It's my family genes on my Mom's side.
They only "camped "out at their friends a week and they realized it was too crowded even with the RV so another friend had an empty house ...Navy again I'm sure...so they are parked there have an empty house and only have to pay elec. till they move out. These kids must have kissed the Blarney Stone at one time. Dale hates his school...nothing new here he just needs something to motivate him. Now Derek my 18 yr . old grandson who has yet to show true female interest..(we talked about that in WA. He wants someone special and doesn't want to waste time unless he feels right about this) well he's in love. Mom is frantic as this is her baby she said he heard him tell "the girl" over the phone he loves her and she said loves him. Ha Ha been there and done that. I asked her how it felt with the shoe on the other foot. David has yet to meet the girl and Dawn didn't say. Me, I think it's a riot. I'm wondering when he's going to tell Gramma. I guess I'll have to leave my Yahoo on. I'm doubting if they have internet there as I haven't seen any of them on line since the first week. Anyway Dawn is doing great..she was going to go back to either Wal-mart or K-Mart and David told her not to bother. She has taken over the kitchen at the Eagles Club and Dawn's Eagles Luncheonette is open and doing quite well plus she has already catered a few dinners at the Eagles. One retirement party last night and something coming up for the First selectman so she is already making a name for herself. The lunches at the Eagles were almost non existant as the people who had been doing it were dirty and didn't care. Dawn and Dave were part of the group who had set up the kitchen so they went in and told the other couple"guess what, your out" and they worked for two weeks cleaning it up...people saw it and started coming back and voila lunch crowd. She did a few things just for the Eagles and people were amazed as the ones before didn't fuss just put a few things out..not my Dawn she's served Pres. Clinton and Hillary, actor Betty White and even Barishnakov among a few while working at White Oak a private place for the elite so on evenings when Dawn is there you eat folks....appetizers included. Everyone is thrilled. Word went out quick that Dawn and Dave were back. So I'm very pleased with both my children...as yes I think of Dawn as mine, too.
Dave told her she should go after her dream and what a better way to start no more Wal or K Marts for her. (Unless it's her choice) NOT I can't see it happening as she is very happy doing this. By the time she's ready to go out on her own she'll be ready and have a good following. For now anyone who wants her has to rent the Eagles for the day or night.

Well on the creative side I added to the Egyptian Nirvana LO's for Terrell. She's having a sale at Moo Two Designs showcasing her Egyptian Nirvana kit and I did three for her in the past two weeks, plus I had some others already done. It's a beautiful kit check it out and check her other kits, while you are there. I only rarely use other kits so most of the things I do are hers. Visit my gallery in the farm yard.

I'm probably going to add some other LO's to my mix but am not planning on joining any other CT's for the time being so "most " will still be her kits. I'll always tell you whose kit is being used to give proper credit. I have tons of freebies that I've collected over the past year so once in a while I will be using them or doing a mix as I've tons of pictures including heritage ones I need to do. I have some funny kitty ones for Christmas, too and the kits I need belong to other ladies. Since Terrell herself uses others kits I'm sure she'll forgive me. After all she knows she's still my favorite designer. LOL Talk about a brown noser. No really she is my favorite and when I need something she will come to my rescue.....Check out Doreens Greens she did this especially for me for my Country Oaks . I had been saving this picture of Blackie for a special kit.

Well on the Oklahoma scene Engineer Jim is taking some special classes this week so he won't be home till maybe Thursday. While taking a train into town Scott took three pictures to send me. LOL whoever saw an engineer with a cowboy hat. This one marches to his own drummer , That's why I love him so.

Ok that's it for now. It's a great day Scarlett..arthritis or not. Don't forget to check Terrells things out and my album on Moo. There are more on other sites but I figured you're there anyway.
