Today on the Prairie

Scott has just left leaving Jim and I here in Blackwell. He's on his way home for a few days up in Chicago land then he flies out to our sister RR in WA. state The EWG Eastern Washington Gateway to fill in for John (our USRP pres.) so that John can fly to his new home in PA where he and Ellen are setting up their new homestead. They recently sold their place in IL. and are moving, I believe to Ellen's family farm somewhere in North West PA. Scott is going to be very busy during all of this as he will be in WA then back and forth during October from IL,OK and WA. This meant a short little change in our plans as Jim will be needed her in Blackwell a little longer than usual. We should be back in TN around the 23rd as we have Doctors appointments. Then we will be leaving very shortly after that to come back to OK. We are trying to schedule things so we will be home for Thanksgiving at least.

Since it will be Winter soon after I will probably stay at home at least till March or April before again starting my trips with Jim. The only good thing here is I will no longer be alone in TN as my friend Terrell should be settled in very near me. It looks like I'll be busy with her as she is going to teach me some things about designing so that I will be able to do some work on my own. I'm looking forward to that and who knows maybe we might even have a surprise for you after the new year.

It will be a bit quiet here now that Scott has left as I won't be worrying about what to make for supper and the guys won't be in and out all day. It breaks up my day a bit when they do and makes it less lonely here as there is always some type of activity going on. The new conductor Terry seems to be working out OK so she and Jim will be working together while Scott is gone. I'm not sure just what the new year will bring as business picks up here and in WA. Time will tell. I always have mixed feelings on it but as it's Jim's dream I go along. It does make it hard on me, a bit. I don't like making the choice of staying home or going with him, it does make for a lousy marriage situation. Ellen, John's wife and Tammy our Treasurer are both involved with the company and I think that makes it a bit easier for them. I'm more on the support team though at times I'm able to contribute a few things as either researcher or using some of my digital work to design Logo's. That part isn't very hard as the company wants me to follow the original design made by the late Doug Geren, so all I have to do is use that and add the changes. As the company adds more RR's to their list a lot of changes will be made and there will be other needs to fulfill by me and the many others that make up the USRP team. We are all looking forward to that.

Thinking about it between that and "my secret", retirement might be changing and have a whole new look in the year 2008.

Okay Scarlett this is today, the moods are good, so maybe some work is in order.
