Cappuccino and Coffee...oh what a day

What a fun day today turned out to be. It didn't start out that way as we had to give Chessie her medicine before going for coffee. She is definitely not a lady when it comes to trying to hold her down. Her brother TJ is a jewel to med compared to her. Yesterdays bout ended up mostly on the floor and Jim's shirt. This mornings attempt was a disaster with medicine and cat flying in opposite directions and me getting the brunt of her rear claws. Next time it's a towel wrapped cat.

We went down to the coffee shop (Waverly Cafe) early and called Joyce to join us. We were planning on lunch with at Tracy and T's around noon. She called yesterday and invited us. Anyway my usual Cappuccino has sprinkles of cinnamon on top but Joyce had one the other day that was a piece of art with a cobweb design of chocolate syrup on top so today I asked for the "pretty" Cappuccino and tried to explain what Joyce's looked like. Well not realizing chocolate could be powdered or liquid my description wasn't too good and I was delivered a "Cap" with sprinkled chocolate powder. The owner brought it to me and could see by my expression that it wasn't what I expected. We had a great laugh and after another description of what I meant she said 'Oh, that's a chocolate drizzle' so when Joyce came in I told her she had better ask for a 'Chocolate Drizzle ' which she did and I ordered one too. She and I then went on to argue whose 'Cap" was prettier and we made Jim take photo's too. Mine is on the right. LOL I think the one Joyce had the other day was prettier. It made for some laughs anyway and everyone thought we were nuts I'm sure.
Now to the coffee part. Now I've met some interesting inventive people but my Tracy takes the cake. She believes in waste not want not for sure. Her coffee pot carafe broke a while back and she hasn't been able to find another one. Not wanting to buy another coffee maker... and not wanting to waste the coffee she has left in her container she is using a pot of boiling water to make it. (She doesn't make a lot of coffee anyway) so I'm watching this thinking "oh we were going to have Cowboy Coffee where you throw the grounds in the pot then put cold water on top so the grounds will sink" Nope...the mother of invention has taken over..I look at her and she has taken a coffee filter put the coffee grounds in it and has preceded to sew it into a coffee pod or bag. Well, me being me I had to laugh and joke about it. She went on to explain she didn't want to waste her coffee in the container and buy the Maxwell house pod coffee(they come like a big tea bag but with coffee that you put in your coffee pot and perk, ) till her coffee is gone. I really laughed as she opened her cupboard and saw she had packs of filters left which I guess means she will have to buy more coffee and make more coffee pods or bags till they are gone. You would have had to have been there and seen it...she sat there and sewed this thing up with a needle and thread even making a little hem over it so nothing could fall out. of course I had to ask what stitch she preferred blanket stitch, blind hem or what... she said"Oh, just a basting stitch will do"

After I laughed so much she said I couldn't have coffee or desert since I made fun of her thriftiness. She relented and I had some of her homemade cheesecake(Yumo)...blackberry this time and her coffee which by the way wasn't too bad.

Now if I can only get her to make me some tiny ones with espresso in them for my Starbucks Barrista machine I'll have it made. They are so damn hard to find. LOL

Seeing is believing:

Tracy making her coffee pods (bags)
sewing a running basting stitch

pouring coffee ( she dips it out of pot with a cup)
Me enjoying the finished product
