been forever

I guess it's been forever since I blogged. I just keep forgetting. I have been keeping busy though...tagging and "ranching" lol.

Jim and I just got back from Illinois. He had a board meeting in Princeton and from there we went to Aurora to meet up with Lisa and Allen and their two children Lauryen and Brigs. We got there early Sunday AM and went to breakfast at a pancake place where we had a delicious breakfast. We then went back to their house for a bit before heading to Bollingbrook where we would stay overnight have another breakfast with a friend..Marty then head back home.

These trips are made easier as we have Tracy and T to sit the critters. Of course we will then do the same for them.

Yesterday we picked up a new pad for Lady's saddle and met Peggy who had two saddles for sale. She let us take one home to try as if all things go well we should be getting another horse to add to the ranch crew.  Cody is a paint bay gelding that our friend Susan is getting and is for sale. She is giving us first choice on him. He is supposed to be similar to Lady in temperament...well trained....15.2...solidLast night I tried the saddle and pad on Lady,,with my saddle it looked rather high so we tried Peggy's saddle with our pad and it seemed to fit rather well. Then we took her over to the picnic table ( since I couldn't lift my fat ass up to mount from the ground) where as I got up on the bench and sat on the table the damn table collapsed..... mind yo this is a large heavy table that takes big people to move...it was rotted out.  I was unhurt but sore and Lady......well she just stood there amidst my scream and noise and never flinched...I can just imagine what she thought...."Oh shit....here we go again......" If you remember my last ride culminated with the saddle rolling off her back as I dismounted with me screaming'  This horse is good......just right for a dummy like me......Culmination was I didn't get on and Jim is going to Lowe's to get lumber to build me a bench as a sitting and mounting block in the ridding area. with an easy gait. We get to see him Friday evening to see if he is a match for us. No photo yet but soon.
