107 on my screened porch today. haven't seen Pud Pud since breakfast so I hope she's found some damp soil (ha) to make a nest in. Since she is a stray I really hesitate on bringing her in as I know she has ticks and fleas and my home doesn't. One of our dreams is to redo the porch and close it in more with windows that can be opened, like the sun rooms and probably have AC on it for summer. If I did, I'd try to catch her and put Frontline on her and force her to come on the porch on days like this. She must go some place as she shows up early evening when the sun is gone with a friend whom I call Tommy Balls, for obvious reasons, for the Daily Special of Meow Mix. Since she hasn't graced us (TG) with a litter one hopes she is spayed considering her friend isn't altered.
I have had a self feeder for her, but one night last week just after dark I went out to check on her I found 2 slightly gray very bushy tailed "kittens" running away and soon after that I heard a rustle under the stairs and saw two more of the same family the largest being definitely black and white with a real pretty stripe and another baby. I quietly returned to the house. All food was already gone so, Mama took her other baby and returned to the woods. Needless to say ,Pud Pud who by the way is friendly enough to sit back and let all comers eat her food, now gets her food doled out and no food is being left over night.
One fact I bet you never noticed.....The first whiff of one of these "kitties" smells like fresh coffee. Mind you first whiff only don't sniff again as you'll know it wasn't coffee. Jim and I always look at each other now and say"Are you making coffee?" when we smell it. I though I'd imagined that but since I've mentioned it I've found two more people who have said the same thing. Makes you think different about fresh brewed coffee. One of these came from the mouth of babes , as a friends 3 year old asked his Mom who was making coffee one morning while they were driving down the road, after I had mentioned this fact to her.
As far as the creative mode nothing today...yet! My buddy Terrell is still teasing me with promises of what's to come. She also has told me to be ready to be very busy. This comes at a good time as Jim announced he will be heading out next Monday without me for a few weeks as signal man, engineer, conductor. With my new found "job" as CT I don't mind as much, as I can create any time without feeling guilty. Who knows maybe my creative mind will start doing some of my own items. You never know....
After all Scarlett, tomorrow's another day.
