I was up at 6:45 making coffee and feeding the kitties (including PudPud). So far it hasn't gotten to warm, but the A/C just turned on and the Cicada's have started rubbing their little legs. I'm hoping it will be a creative day.
Yesterday was a Betty Crocker day. For some reason I was in a cooking mood. I baked "Granny Beach Beans", made "Granny Beach potato salad" and fudged my way Succotash. Jim's and my tastes differ in certain foods. He likes his beans with molasses, I'd rather have then the way Granny made them...just with salt pork and brown sugar. Potato salad we both can eat either way, with mayo or Granny's style which is German Potato Salad (the cold kind not hot). His Mother made it German style, too and she got her recipe from Jim's Grandmother. Jim makes a super potato salad, himself, with mayo. I like it too, but every so often I want the taste of home. So, when he goes away I make different things, the things he usually won't eat. For lunch yesterday I had leftover red beans and rice which I made the night he left. Not really having a a recipe to go on, I fudged this too and I really liked it.
Having had my coffee, I had a MSN chat with Jim before he started his day. I was telling him I still wasn't satisfied with the Quick Pages I was doing and was going to try again today. Tracy gave me some more hints and after "listening" to what she's doing and reading a link she sent I don't think I was doing them right. They could be used as QP's but I'm still not a happy camper. So, I told him that today would be another QP day and I hope another LO.
I worked on a LO yesterday with TerrellS Roses for Mom kit and I titled it the same, as that's what they were. During David's retirement ceremony my escort brought out a dozen roses as a gift from David. Dawn's escort did the same as did the escort for Dave's friend, Manny who was retiring ,too. They did this while each of the candidates was giving their speech. Dave's better at secrets as I knew nothing about this and of course sat there blubbering. I still look at him in wonder as I can't believe it possible that I brought this man into the world. I'm so blessed. He turned out wonderful and the best is..... everything he accomplished he did himself with the help and understanding of his wife (my daughter, as I think of her that way) Dawn. So I figured I'd title it the same, "Roses for Mom" Thank you! No David, Thank YOU for as I said I'm truly blessed.
