where the buffalo roam and the dear and the antelope play....NOT!!!! Well, I guess if that's your home you love it and that's the way it should be. But, for me right now home is Tennessee and that's where I am. Home Again, Home Again jigity Jig.
The trip home went nice and smooth, just the way I like them to go. We didn't leave till about 12:30 PM pulling into Oklahoma City about 2 PM and fueling up , dumping tanks and we were off again down I35 to I40 which we follow to home. Next stop was Russelville, Arkansas right on schedule 7:30 ish PM getting propane and fuel then parking for the night or at least till 3 AM. We went into the Flying J and each had taco salads for supper. We went to sleep around 9 PM as that would give us about 6 hours rest. Waking around 3 Jim went in and got us a nice large pump pot of coffee. That's one thing I have to say about the J the coffee "ain't bad". We made one more nap stop just about dawn which was about 6:30AM and slept till 8 AM as neither of us could keep our eyes open. We pulled into the driveway at the Dry Creek Ranch at 11:30 AM Sunday morning.
Ah home! and guess what Pud Pud was waiting for us. What a riot as I had accused Shadow of e-mailing her. She looks a little thin but not overly. The "kids" went out on the screened porch tonight and spent a half hour visiting with her rubbing at her through the door. None of them have ever seemed to growl or be nasty to her, which I have always found amazing. It's like they know she's the "poor unfortunate." For her to be so fat (when we are home) I believe she does have another home but prefers us as she is here most of the time. Her little hideaway I fixed under the porch looks lived in as the blankie has been messed up a bit. I'm still debating as to what I will do this winter about her. I found one of those insulated aluminum type hunters sheets and bought it while in Oklahoma and I think I'm going to put that in her little container too and I know I'll have her on the porch as I'm way to soft to just leave her out. This time thought the food dishes will be out in the day time and after supper picked up so we don't feed the rest of the neighborhood skunks and polecats. As usual I'll leave the door propped open so she can come and go.
Funny what priorities are around here. Computers come first. I was still bringing things in and Jim had us hooked up and I didn't even know it. One problem the country brings and especially with neighbors disturbing the land, is field mice. Yup, Mickey is back. Heck I don't know how he finds his way back here I thought I drove him far enough away. (tongue in cheek here) I figured as much as I found nibble marks on my oatmeal packages that I brought with me. Most of my stuff in the house is always kept in plastic or glass anyway, but some of it was in plastic zip locks. Boy, am I naive thinking that would keep him out. Well, before I could put things away I had to throw out anything in packages and wash the cabinets, then put the new things in Plastic containers. The "kids" have been given instructions on catching Mickey and depositing him in the tub so we can move him again. Yeah, I know, I'm blond and before you start shaking your head I also know it's not the same damn mouse either. But, I like to joke about it being the same mouse and asking anyone who travels Dry Creek if they saw him hiking up the hill with a little pole and knapsack over his shoulder, to the house. Well, lets see next time I'll drive to Camden County over the Tennessee River, hoping he can't swim or is too stupid to make a raft to get back. They don't allow pedestrians on the bridge and I think he's too small to hitch hike.
Lets see Terrell should be on her way to Tennessee, if every thing went on schedule for her. She told be she won't have the internet till Tuesday and I would imagine it will be dial up at least for a bit. Once she is settled and they catch up on things I'm sure they will find other means.
This one is short as I'm still tired. I've showered and now I'm going to watch TV for a bit and go to bed early. That's one good thing about Central Time the shows start at 7 PM and are over by 10 PM so you can retire to bed at a decent hour.
Tomorrow is another day Scarlett.
