poor Tommy

Poor Tommy ,Pud Puds's friend showed up the other day holding his right front leg up and hobbling on three legs. I wasn't sure if he broke it or if it was abscessed. I thought he was favoring it the beginning of the week but he didn't stay around long and was gone for two days. On the second day Pud was also gone and then late that night both showed up. I fed them and Tommy and Pud each curled up in the makeshift houses we've set up. Tom did let me look at his leg and it was quite swollen so I figured it was an abscess. Seems like whoever he belongs to didn't give a damn since they 1. haven't altered him and 2. didn't care for his leg. We figured if he was still here we'd take him to the vet ourselves, but he disappeared again. He was here again yesterday and slept all day and night. Pud Pud stays near him too. Today I figured I'd try to put some hot water compresses on it and clean it. Still figuring it was an abscess I thought it might break it open. I was right and as soon as I touched it it started to leak. He had finally been able to wash the area himself pulling the fur off. So I helped get the rest or as much puss out of it as I could. I swear it was like a half cup of fluids I got out. He never uttered a cry just a little meow never tried to get away or pull away but let me clean it up. I put some peroxide and cortizone on it and he went back to sleep. he didn't want to go back into his little house so I had put a clean towel down and covered him up and draped to blankets making a tent over the chair where he was sleeping. Pud Pud came back and wouldn't go in hers either and curled up in a basket I have on the floor near Tom. I swear she had gone and got him and brought him back for me to take care of him. I just wish I had a place to bring them into the house to keep warm but with our three there is nowhere to put them. I also went and bought a kitty box and put it out there so he wouldn't have to go down the stairs again and it looks like he did use it. I really think he is a sweet cat too and he's friendlier than Pud Pud. I'm hoping that draining the leg will help and he will keep it clean. We'll see how it goes.

No scraping today. We did all meet for breakfast this AM then we stopped at Joyce's to check out her computer. Jim checked it and had it up and running.
