Sunday Morning

Yesterday we went to the chili cook off in Ponca City with Terri and her husband Brian. The Hospice group over in Ponca was the sponsor for a chili cook off yesterday with a great turnout. Jim and I arrived a little late to our disadvantage. It was a huge success with them running out off BBQ and chili just about when we got there. We did get enough to eat and it was delicious. The stand we liked best had a variety, red beans and rice ,shredded pork and a wonderful bean combination . I liked the beans best and I wished I had a pencil and paper with me to grill the lady who made it. She rattled off very quickly things that she had put in it but with CRS I'll never remember it. There were 6-7 types of beans, brown sugar, cornsyrup, onions and some spices. They were more liquid in base than the usual base and absolutely deeeeliscious.

Besides good food and some good company I got to see another part of the area. It was on Ponca Lake which seems to be a small lake but a beautiful landscaped park too. The houses were georgeous in that part of town, also. So for once instead of "downing" where I am I could say I was very pleased. It's like meeting new people, don't put them down till you give them a chance, I guess. Like any kind of beauty, at times you have to search for it.

Figures we didn't have our camera. Darn.

Have no idea what we will do today but tomorrow FEMA officials are supposed to meet up with "the powers to be" here in Blackwell. I sure do hope there will be some $$$ coming to save this line if not...........

later.
