Yesterday Jim and I took a ride to Fort Campbell. We had a pretty fun day shopping for a few things and having lunch. We decided not to go to the commissary as we only needed coffee and creamer but went to the exchange and class 6 store. We wanted to pick up some Sky vodka for Joyce and some Crown Royal for T. While shopping I was sampling little shots. LOL Guess what they have a new Tequila named for Jim and I.... Jimador now isn't that nice? Of course I had to get a bottle of Gold. We found this at the exchange and then in the Class 6 they had samples of McCormick Irish Cream yumo and it was almost 8 dollars cheaper than Baily's so it came home with me too. I felt like an alchie loading the car, but it's only once a year or two years we even buy booze.
We are slowly getting ready to have Thanksgiving at Joyce's house. She was telling me how she prepares her turkey She cooks her stuffing separate and stuffs onions and oranges into the cavity. The bird rests in wine on a bed of onions, carrots and celery. I can't wait to try this. Me I always stick to my family tradition and make my stuffing with sausage (Jimmy Dean) uncooked, minced onion, celery,Bells seasoning (sent to me by my friend JoAnne in NY (can't find the stuff here) giblet broth and torn bread. My Mom always did it this way and hers and so forth. Of course it gets stuffed up the birds.a@#.. and neck LOL and it means we have to cook the bird a little more but my stuffing is always moist not dry like outside the bird. To each their own "My Kid" cooks his sausage, starting his own tradition. I wonder if this is Yankee. LOL The Bells gives it just the right sage taste and I use the original Jimmy Deans without sage. The one thing I do miss is the family's version of Waldorf salad and fresh fruit cup, both were holiday staples. The salad was similar to a coleslaw with minced cabbage, carrots, onion, grapes, pineapple, walnuts and apples and was my absolute favorite thing. I can remember making my own version at least 30 years ago but can't quite remember how. I know it had mayo but I'd swear it had whipped cream or something that made it creamy. I'll have to search the web to see what sounds similar.
The poor kitty's will have to wait a bit before they can have that aroma since we won't have dinner here, but we will have one either at Christmas or before. Little Dustbuster (RJ) needs his first Turkey..all the kitties need that smell. I just know RJ will go nuts as he is already a kitchen helper.
Darn that's making me hungry

Interesting way to cook a Turkey. Can't wait to hear how that tastes! I usually let Scott mess with the Turkey. I have enough other crap to do.
So, you and Jim have your on Te-Kill-Ya huh? Sweet.
