birthday celebration

My birthday celebration was a blast. I am so glad that I did go on the trip with Jim. Saturday Evening he and I went to the Heritage House Restaurant in Harvard,IL for a wonderful dinner. It's one of my favorite places to go when we are there.  I now have a new favorite. LOL  Jim spoiled me rotten the time he did get to be with me when he wasn't in meetings or running trains at the museum. Before Heading home we drove to Naperville and took the Metra into Chicago... thing he has promised me for 10 years now but something always spoiled our plans. He vowed this time not to let that happen and even though he should have left for home Sunday and Oklahoma on Monday he didn't break that promise.  I love that man.

Any way we drove to Naperville boarded the Metra for a long trip (they stopped at every station LOL) into Chicago...me loving every minute. Though I can ride the Engine  on our own company trains this was on a passenger train. I was like a kid enjoying every minute. The last time I traveled on a train was to and from CT to Florida way back in the 50's.

On arriving we took the Water Taxi which I again was like a kid enjoying it to the hilt snapping photos of the cafe's along the River Walk etc. It didn't go to the Navy Pier so we had to hop a Taxi the rest of the way from Michigan Avenue ( I think it was)  I wasn't disappointed at all except that we didn't really have a lot of time to spend...next time. LOL Anyway this was a lunch trip. We perused a few kiosks then rode the 15 story Ferris Wheel. Yup she who can't stand on a chair was up 15 stories onn a ferris wheel cabin which is enclosed with Plexiglas.  We snapped photos from what I considered the top of the world then we went to Riva's for lunch. I had Their Louis salad which was Romaine..chopped fine eggs, capers, Shrimp and Crab meat with a very light touch  of a Thousand Island type dressing, Jim had Scallops and French Fries which he couldn't finish but I did eat the rest of his scallops 4 huge ones. Oh but it reminded me of New England and it was to die for.

On the way home we stopped and picked up  Krakus Ham and hard rolls ,....almost non existent here where we live. Also had a stop at Panera Bread for coffee and pastry.

We had to catch the 3:15 back to Naperville for the 9 hour drive back to TN as Jim had to leave today for Oklahoma. Resting for two hours we arrived here at 5 AM and Jim left again before 3PM after a long nap.

Anyway here are a few shots we took.
