Today Jim, Tracy and I went to see Lady and try her out. I also gave her her new name tody. She is now Lady Irish. Jim bought me a saddle the other day but sadly it doesn't fit her as well as we would like but with some adjusting it will work till we can get a different one for her. We measured her and she is 14 .2 hands right on the dividing line so is considered a horse not a pony. She had not been ridden since sometime in October but you would not know it. We set Sue's saddle on her which is Arabian saddle which was to die for as far as comfort goes. She also gave us the name of the guy she got it from so we will look into probably selling this one and getting a similar one. I'm still unable to lift my right leg well so needed a boost to get on. LOL Hopefully after my operation in January I will be OK. Her height is perfect for me. She is a very well mannered horse...stood very quiet while we saddled her but moved out when I asked. Sue wasn't sure if she was neck reigned but I kind of semi neck reined her with no problem also the one handed stop worked well. I had no problems with her at all. The tiny ring she has was a bit uneven so we really didn't get into a trot..just a few steps. Same for when Tracy rode her. I have no fear of her being one of those run away horses...which for me is just what I need. I 'm sure if we are in a good ring I will have no problems with her and also on the trail. Since I usually follow we should be fine. I am so looking forward to her coming home as soon as we get a fence up. She has a pasture mate..well a few of them but gets along with a nice little Jenny (Donkey) that I think we will also get as the coyotes do not like them or bobcats either. Susan let us know today that she has to cut out a lot of her horses as the baby she is carrying might have CF. We were saddened to hear that. We still have not decided about Cherokee but she will sell her to us if we want and Jim would like a horse of his own. Till then he can ride Tuff when we all ride.
here are some photos we took today at Susans. I have to laugh as I look so big to her small size but then I had on my huge jean jacket too...at least the ground isn't that far off. LOL
heave ho..Tracy looks like she is pushing but she was just making sure I didn't fall back LOL. I tried to mount without the stairs but I couldn't get my right leg up and over so .... I guess we will get a ramp or bench built for me. Hopefully after the operation in January by April or May I'll need no help to do this
