week 5 of my rehab is half over. I am no longer using my walker but using the cane. I showed up at rehab with a cane yesterday and Daryl chuckled. I asked if it was OK and he said "Is it?" He said the idea was to go ahead so if I could manage then it was OK. He then gave me instructions with the cane and had me show him my walk, explaining the cane should be held on the opposite side of injury so that if you did lean it wouldn't injure the hip. He wanted to know my thinking on "pushing ahead to walk" and I said that "in my mind week six was the last of my restrictions and I felt by then I should be walking" He said OK that works...so that is the goal.
While riding the bike and just after a comment of "I'd like to blow this thing up" the thing lost a pedal. LOL I jinxed it and got out of that for the day. So we went on to other torture and he added more weight to my leg lefts. I told him I preferred to work with him as he challenged me more.
After therapy we went to Wal-Mart...my first shopping experience. Jim wanted to know if I wanted to use the electric cart and I said NO and NO again to the wheelchair. Too macho for my own good as I later found out when I started to tire and had "miles to go," unaided but for the cane and cart. I did make it and then on the way home said lets go to lunch, and also I called Emily to see if I could get my hair cut.
Jim took this photo with his cell phone of the hair cut I found to take to Emily.
and this is what happened at Emily's
a bit shorter but I am pleased with it. Nice and easy to take care of.
I now feel a bit more human...shott me the next time I say I want to grow out my hair. LOL
I even felt good enough to play with PSP and made some tags.
