Curious they wandered down to see what I was about. I threw some hay over the gate and grabbed the tote and went into the pasture to join them. They were paying me no mind except I knew they were watching me as horses do but they were content on munching. I got my stiff brush out and went over to Lady letting her sniff the brush and talking to her she seemed to think it ok so I proceeded to start brushing her. Her foot went immediately to the relaxed stance so I knew it was ok to continue. After a real good brush and curry I started with the combing of her mane and then went to the tail...not sure how this was going to go and to my surprise all she did was switch to relax with her other leg and let me comb her tail out completely. She was loving it every single minute of it. Out of the corner of my eye I notice Molly was getting interested too as she stopped munching and went to sniff the tote. I wasn't quite sure what she was about but watched as she chose a brush and took it out of the tote and dropped it at her feet. After a bit I went over talking to her and picked up the brush and let her smell it. She went back to munching and to my surprise she let me groom her too and she loved it just like Lady. Of course a lot of this happiness stems on the fact that they are shedding and are itchy. I'm betting on them thinking this pure joy and will continue to let me do this so that I can get all their unreachable spots that they can't itch and will put up with my grooming them.
When done I told them how beautiful they looked and how good they were that they deserved a treat. So I got them each a peppermint treat so now they have another good thing to associate grooming with.
I went back in and after a while I heard a car pull in and a honk..it was Tracy so I went out to join her. She had come back from Crossville where she brought her two rescue horses Cal and Cool to be retrained and hopefully re homed. There is a possibility of no one taking Cal as he is slightly blind in one eye. He has a cataract in that eye and Jim feels if we keep him we can have it removed if he is a good horse with possibilities. Any way Tracy came armed with wine so we got another chair and a small table and made ourselves a spot by the coral and proceeded to the house for some crackers and cheese. We spent the next hour enjoying the munching of horses eating hay and us wine cheese and crackers and just good companionship.
This sounds like something we will do again as all "four" of us enjoyed it.
Sunday Tracy and I went to lunch at the cafe...chicken and dressing...and not too tasty I might add then we went to Wal-mart for some groceries and home. It was cool and rainy so no quality horse time. But we stocked up on cheese and crackers for future.
I bought a memory foam mattress pad which I might add mad the bed much more cozy and comfy even if I didn't sleep all night . I think what I did get was good.
\Well off to get ready for the day and wishing for some warmth and sun but looking out my window it doesn't look good.
