Today is the day people here in the states celebrate a day of Thanksgiving. We give thanks to our Lord for all the blessings He has bestowed on us.....all that He has helped us accomplish. Here at Dry Creek Ranch we wish all of you a blessed day as well and thank you for being our friends while we too give thanks for all that we have and have done.
I received an E-Mail from my son David this AM so I have been blessed. Sadly I do not get to see him and his family very much now that I am retired in TN. Since he was 18 we have been separated much of the time. David ,up until a few years ago belonged to Uncle Sam's Navy. Most of the time he was stationed somewhere on the East Coast which at least once in a while allowed us to visit. Now he is working for Noble Oil which is an off shore drilling company and he is stationed off the coast of Brazil. He and my lovely daughter ( in Law) Dawn and my grandsons Derek and Dale live in the St. Mary's / Kingsbay area of GA.
It makes it hard and has made it hard to really have a family holiday. Not what I dreamed of as a child but have become used to it. So Jim and I celebrate alone with Shadow,TJ, Chessie, RJ, Pud Pud, and Tom and oh yes Molly Mae (Maggie Mae) and Lady Irish Mist here at Dry Creek Ranch.
Yesterday was shop for Lady day at the Coop in Dickson. We needed her special Vitamin mixture and we came home with new stirrups and a nice emerald green training halter and reins to go with the bridle I bought the other day. All that is left is a new saddle pad as the one we bought with the saddle is too big.
Up at 6 this AM and feed all 8 children then came in to start work for the ranch dinner today. Turkey and all the fixins like I used to have at home. Sadly no stringbean casserole for Jim. LOL but maybe with leftovers during the week I'll surprise him. Today though it's my family traditional dinner.
So I hope you all have a pleasant day...I'm off to search for a recipe for Waldorf Salad and to sip my coffee...maybe watch the parade a bit too while my Turkey cooks.
